LPA spotted east of Visayas; Cloudy with a chance of rain nationwide — Pagasa
MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) is monitoring a low-pressure area (LPA) within the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR).
The weather bureau, in its early morning update, said the LPA was last spotted 970 kilometers east of the Visayas.
“Nagsimula itong LPA as a trough or extension ni Typhoon Nyatoh na nasa labas ng ating Philippine area of responsibility at sa ngayon ay patungo ng North Pacific Ocean,” said Pagasa weather specialist Benison Estareja.
(The LPA started from a trough or extension of Typhoon Nyatoh outside PAR and is now heading towards the North Pacific Ocean.
“Nananatiling mababa ang tsansa ng LPA na maging isang bagyo and in fact posibleng malusaw din ito sa susunod na dalawang araw. Sa ngayon ay nakakaapekto ang trough ng LPA sa bahagi ng Mindanao,” he added.

The southern portion of Palawan, including Kalayaan Islands, will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the trough of the LPA.
The rest of Luzon, including Metro Manila, will have fair weather with isolated rain showers.
Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are expected in Mindanao, especially in Zamboanga Peninsula, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, Soccsksargen, Davao region, and Surigao provinces.
Northern Mindanao and a large portion of Visayas will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies.
“Mataas ang tsansa ng pag-ulan pagsapit ng hapon hanggang sa gabi. Ito ay bahagyang epekto ng trough ng LPA lalo na sa Samar and Leyte provinces as well as Northern Mindanao,” Estareja said.
(There is a high chance of rain in the afternoon and evening. This is a slight effect of the trough of LPA especially in Samar and Leyte provinces and Northern Mindanao.)
