Cayetano: Politicians passing off fake news as facts
Fact-checking information on politics and COVID-19 jabs they get on Facebook, YouTube and Tiktok seem to be “not in the DNA” of Filipinos, according to Taguig-Pateros Rep. Alan Peter Cayetano as he stressed the importance of verifying information about candidates and vaccines from social media.
In a press briefing on Thursday, he lamented the spread of fake news about COVID-19 and some candidates’ “propaganda” being passed off as facts.
“Right now, it’s really besting each other’s propaganda,” he said. “And maybe it’s not in our DNA to do fact-checks.”
