OLONGAPO CITY—Medical frontliners at the city’s major COVID-19 facility on Friday (Dec. 3) began receiving the booster shot against COVID-19, local officials said.

At least 500 workers of James L. Gordon Memorial Hospital (JLGMH) who had been fully inoculated six months ago were the first to receive the booster shot, according to the hospital management.

Pfizer’s third dose was given to the vaccine recipients during the rollout on Friday morning, it said.

So far, at least 108,151 residents or 60 percent of the target population had already been fully vaccinated against the viral disease while 161,818 received their first dose.

The city has to vaccinate 182,000 residents or 70 percent of its 260,000-population to achieve herd immunity against the viral disease.
