Acting Presidential Spokesperson Karlo Nograles made the remark after Go, whom Duterte had publicly supported, announced his withdrawal from the presidential race.
“Si Pangulo has options, has choices that he has to make and we should give him time to make those options, to make those, choice, to make those decisions and give him the leeway to make the announcement kung kelan niya iyon gusto gawin,” Nograles said in a press briefing.
“Antayin na lang natin si Pangulong Duterte,” he added.
Following Go’s withdrawal, Davao City Mayor and vice presidential aspirant Sara Duterte-Carpio, President Duterte’s daughter, called for unity among supporters.
Duterte-Carpio’s running mate is former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. who is aiming for the presidency.
President Duterte has criticized Marcos Jr. and at one point called him a “weak leader.” /ra
