DOH reports death of 40 more COVID-19 patients

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) reported Thursday the death of 40 more COVID-19 patients, increasing the total count of fatalities to 48,752.

According to DOH, the current death tally is 1.72 percent of the total 2,833,473 confirmed cases of the new coronavirus disease nationwide.

The DOH reported 188 fatalities due to COVID complications on November 27; 156 on November 28; 141 on November 29; 44 on November 30, and; 167 on December 1.

In November, a total of 5,332 deaths were announced by the DOH, for an average of 177 deaths being logged per day.

The DOH earlier explained that deaths being reported in its daily bulletins include those that happened in the previous months.

At present, the country has 15,188 active COVID-19 cases which include 715 who were asymptomatic, 7,126 who have mild symptoms, 3,817 who have moderate infections, 2,463 who were under severe condition, and 1,067 who were under critical status.

Meanwhile, the latest DOH data indicated that 27 percent of intensive care unit beds for COVID-19 patients, 25 percent of isolation beds, 14 percent of ward beds, and 16 percent of ventilators were in use.
