La Union hits target herd immunity against COVID-19
SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union––The province of La Union has reached herd immunity against COVID-19, Gov. Francisco Emmanuel Ortega said on Tuesday, Nov. 30.
Ortega said in a Facebook post that the province had inoculated 70 percent (409,319) of its target population.
La Union has a population of 822,352 as of 2020, but only those 12 years old and above have been inoculated.
In a video message, Ortega said reaching herd immunity was a testament to working together and a product of unity among the residents.
He called on those who had yet to get inoculated against the viral disease to avail themselves of the free vaccines, as, he said, “we have sufficient” supply.
