Over half of eligible Zambales population now jabbed against COVID-19

SAN ANTONIO, Zambales––This province vaccinated 52 percent of its target population to achieve herd immunity against COVID-19 on Tuesday (Nov. 30), the second day of the nationwide vaccination drive.

The latest data from the provincial health office showed that 238,090 residents had been vaccinated against the viral disease. At least 136,260 of them had received two doses of the vaccine.

The province needs to vaccinate 70 percent of its 649,615-population to achieve herd immunity.

As of Tuesday, the active cases in the province were down to 36 after recording only one new case and two more recoveries.

Since the pandemic struck last year, the province recorded 9,837 COVID-19 cases, and at least 9,585 had recovered while 600 had died.
