BATANGAS CITY, Philippines—A policeman on his way to work on board a motorcycle was shot dead along the national highway in Barangay (village) Poblacion, San Pascual, Batangas, on Sunday morning.

Police Officer 2 Efren Camo, 44, was on his way to the San Pascual police station, where he was assigned, at around 3:20 a.m. when he was waylaid and killed by a still unidentified suspect, Chief Inspector Ramil Agbunag, the town’s police chief, said in a phone interview.

Agbunag said Camo, who was shot in the left side of his neck, was rushed to the Bauan Doctors Hospital in nearby Bauan town by village watchmen who responded to the shooting alarm but the policeman was pronounced dead on arrival by attending physician Dr. Zandro Lacsamana.
