MANILA, Philippines — Overcast skies bringing rain will continue to prevail throughout the country on Wednesday, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

Pagasa weather specialist Grace Castañeda said on Tuesday that the northeast monsoon, locally known as the “amihan,” will bring rain over Cagayan, Batanes and Ilocos Norte.

(Here in the part of Luzon in Metro Manila as well as in Central Luzon and Calabarzon, expect chances of the isolated rain caused by the northeast monsoon.)

“Samantala sa nalalabing bahagi po ng Luzon asahan po natin ‘yung magiging bahagyang maulap hanggang maulap na kalangitan at yung mga tiyansa po ng pulo pulong ulan pagkulob at pagkidlat,” she added.

(Meanwhile, in the rest of Luzon, we can expect slightly cloudy to overcast skies and isolated rain with thunder and lightning.)

The same weather conditions will also prevail over Mindanao and Visayas, with the same chance for rain and thunder.

Meanwhile, the tropical storm, internationally named “Nyatoh,” currently being monitored outside PAR, was last located 1,525 kilometers (km) east of Southern Luzon with max wind speeds of 75 km per hour (kph) and gusts of up to 90 kph.

Castañeda said that the forecast remains that the storm may enter the Philippine area of responsibility by Wednesday afternoon.
