Police officer killed in Batangas ambush
BATANGAS CITY — A policeman on his way to work on board a motorcycle was shot dead along the national highway of Barangay (village) Poblacion, San Pascual, Batangas on Sunday morning.
Police Officer 2 Efren Camo, 44, was on his way to the San Pascual police station, where he was assigned, at around 3:20 a.m. when he was waylaid and killed by a still unidentified suspect, according to Chief Inspector Ramil Agbunag, the town’s police chief, in a phone interview.
Agbunag said Camo, who was shot in the left neck, was rushed to the Bauan Doctors Hospital, in San Pascual’s adjoining town of Bauan, by village watchmen who responded to the shooting alarm but the policeman was pronounced dead on arrival by attending physician Dr. Zandro Lacsamana.
Police recovered one empty shell for caliber .45 at the crime scene, said Agbunag.
He said investigators were still determining the motive for the killing.
