MANILA, Philippines —  The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) reported in a statement on Monday that 95 percent of its employees nationwide had already been vaccinated against COVID-19.

According to the GSIS president and general manager, Rolando Macasaet, 4,361 of 4,581 GSIS personnel have already been inoculated, including job order personnel, utility workers, and security guards.

“The safety of its employees is a priority of the GSIS. That’s why we’re grateful state workers belong to priority group A4 of COVID-19 immunization program of our government,” Macasaet said in a mix of English and Filipino.

“We were able to book vaccinations for our employees with the local government units across the country,” he added.

Under Resolution No. 117 of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases, priority group A4 covers government employees and workers in the private and informal sectors who are physically reporting to their workplace.

Meanwhile, apart from its vaccination campaign, Macasaet said that the agency had been strictly implementing safety protocols to minimize the risk of exposure of its employees, clients, and visitors to COVID-19.

In addition, GSIS has implemented contactless methods of accepting applications for loans, claims, and benefits to respond to emerging client needs under the new normal.

Currently, the national government is rushing to inoculate as many Filipinos as possible before the end of the year with its massive vaccination drive that started on Monday, Nov. 29, and will run until Dec. 1.

On Monday, the Department of Health counted 16,289 active cases of COVID-19 out of the total 2,832,375 confirmed infections —  with 2,767,585 recoveries and 48,501 deaths.
