TAGBILARAN CITY––People flocked to the three malls in this city for the first day of the national COVID-19 vaccination drive that began today.

Many of them went to the malls as early as 6 a.m.

Dr. Cesar Tomas Lopez, acting provincial health officer, said the province is targeting to vaccinate at least 50,000 individuals per day during the three-day national vaccination program.

He said the original target given by the national government was 79,000 persons per day, which was very high.

Tagbilaran is expecting at least 5,000 individuals for vaccination per day for three days.

“I am happy people are responding to our call to get vaccinated for their safety and that of the community,” said Mayor John Geesnell Yap II.

He said a drive-thru vaccination would also be conducted Tuesday for tricycle drivers.

Last Thursday, Tagbilaran started its booster shots for medical frontliners, senior citizens, and people with comorbidities.

The number of active COVID-19 cases in Bohol dropped to 83 on Monday.
