MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) on Monday again recorded the lowest daily count of coronavirus cases so far for the year, with 665 new infections, bringing the total confirmed case count to 2,832,375.
This is the lowest daily count that the country has tallied in 2021 and since July 14, 2020. It is also the 6th consecutive day that the country tallied less than 1000 daily cases of COVID-19.
The country last recorded numbers this low on July 14, 2020 at 634 cases.
Meanwhile, the new cases account for 2.1 percent of the 32,639 total tests conducted — the lowest since the country went below the World Health Organization’s standard of 5 percent on Nov. 10.
The DOH also recorded 993 more recoveries further increasing the total number of patients who recuperated from COVID-19 to 2,767,585.
With more recoveries, active infections decreased even further to only 16,289.
Of these individuals currently afflicted with the deadly virus, 48.1 percent suffer mild cases, 6.0 percent asymptomatic, 23.82 percent moderate, 15.6 percent severe, and 6.6 percent critical.
The DOH also recorded 141 new deaths, increasing the death toll to 48,501.
Two laboratories, however, were not operational, while three labs were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System on the tests conducted on Nov. 27. DOH said that these five labs contribute, on average, 0.3 percent of samples tested and 0.5 percent of positive individuals.
The health agency also said that 10 duplicates were removed from the total case count — of which 8 were recoveries and 1 was a death.
“In addition, 87 cases were found to have tested negative and have been removed from the total case count. These 87 are recoveries,” said the DOH.
“Moreover, 129 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation,” it added.
