LPA spotted off Mindanao, may intensify into tropical cyclone — Pagasa
MANILA, Philippines — A low pressure area (LPA) has been spotted off Mindanao which may intensify into a tropical cyclone, the state weather bureau said Monday.
Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said the LPA is currently inside the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) and was 1,960 kilometers east of Mindanao as of 3:00 a.m.
Aurelio said the LPA may enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Tuesday or Wednesday.
“Itong LPA ay may posibilidad na maging bagyo. Maaaring pumasok ang LPA bukas o sa Miyerkules,” he said.

Aurelio, meanwhile, said the shear line and ITCZ are expected to bring rains and thunderstorms over some parts of the country.
Cagayan and Isabela will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the shear line while Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Zamboanga Peninsula and the Davao region in Mindanao will have the same weather condition due to the ITCZ.
Pagasa warned of possible flash floods and landslides in rain-affected areas.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms.

Luzon will have moderate to strong winds with moderate to rough coastal waters while Visayas and Mindanao will experience light to moderate wind speeds and slight to moderate sea conditions.
Pagasa said sunrise occurred at 6:04 a.m. while sunset is expected at 5:25 p.m.
