DepEd to seek hike on teachers’ poll pay

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Education (DepEd) is requesting the Commission on Elections to increase the honoraria of teachers who will serve as poll workers in next year’s national and local elections.

Education Secretary Leonor Briones said she also requested health insurance coverage for those who will be infected with COVID-19.

Also to be studied are benefits such as on-site swab testing, shifting, working hours and tax exemption, among other things. —Dexter Cabalza
