MANILA, Philippines — Huge parts of the country especially on the eastern side of Luzon and Mindanao may experience a rainy weekend due to systems that cause cloud formations, the state weather bureau said on Friday.

According to weather updates from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), the shear line near the northeastern part of the country may cause cloudy skies and rains over the Cagayan Valley, and the Aurora and Quezon provinces from Friday night to Saturday.

The eastern parts of Visayas and Mindanao particularly Northern Mindanao, Davao regions, and Caraga may experience the same weather conditions due to the easterlies, or the warm winds from the Pacific Ocean.

The rest of the country including Metro Manila meanwhile is expected to have partly cloudy weather and a chance of isolated rains.

Despite the recent rains over the country, Pagasa does not expect any tropical cyclones in the next three days.

For Saturday, northern parts of Luzon may still experience rains, which would lead to lower temperatures in Tuguegarao and Baguio City, at 23 to 29 degrees Celsius and 16 to 24 degrees.  Over Laoag, temperatures may be around 24 to 33 degrees, Manila with 24 to 31 degrees, and Legazpi and Puerto Princesa with 25 to 32 degrees.

In Visayas and Mindanao, the eastern cities will have colder daytimes as Tuguegarao may have temperatures of 25 to 31 degrees Celsius, Davao and Cagayan de Oro with 24 to 30 degrees, while Zamboanga will have something around 24 to 32 degrees, and Cebu and Iloilo with 26 to 31 degrees.

Due to the shear line, a gale warning was raised over the waters of Ilocos Sur, Ilocos Norte, Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, and Batanes.
