Don’t mind your haters, Remulla tells Robredo during visit

MANILA, Philippines — “No matter what happens, please do not give in to the hate.”

Cavite Gov. Jonvic Remulla has this to say to presidential aspirant and Vice President Leni Robredo when she and her running-mate Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan visited him on Thursday.

Remulla, whose clan publicly supported the candidacy of President Rodrigo Duterte in 2016, said he and Robredo “disagreed on some issues.”

“Yet I received the Vice President with the dignity and professionalism she deserves not just as the incumbent second-highest Official of the Republic but also out of respect to her as a woman, leader and mother,” he said in a Facebook post on Friday.

Robredo and Pangilinan toured Cavite to meet her supporters through a meet and greet in General Trias City, stationary caravan in Trece Martires, and outreach activity in Kawit.

Here is the rest of Remulla’s statement:

“Although we disagree on certain issues, we both agree that the people deserve a leader the Filipinos can be proud of.

“One who speaks not only about the country’s past but also one with a vision towards a better tomorrow.

“A leader who represents the peoples’ hopes and dreams and not one who incites fear amongst the people.

“Before we parted, I asked only one thing from VP Leni: No matter what happens, please do not give in to the hate.

“Let’s not give in to ill feelings, either.

“Let’s just all learn to agree to disagree.

“I wish her safe travels. I wish her peace and happiness. I wish her a great campaign and future ahead.”

It can be recalled that Remulla also defended Manila mayor and presidential aspirant Isko Moreno from Duterte’s tirades against the former.
