MANILA, Philippines — Almost all of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology’s (BJMP) more than 125,000 inmate population and almost a quarter of the Bureau of Corrections’ (BuCor) more than 48,000 inmates have now been vaccinated against the new coronavirus.

Currently, 116,760, or 93.95 percent, of BJMP’s inmate population in 474 district, city and municipal jails across the country have been vaccinated.

Meanwhile, the BuCor has inoculated a total of 35,111 inmates, or 72.2 percent, of the total inmate population in all seven prisons and penal farms.

Around 10,000, or 20 percent, of the inmates have been fully vaccinated, the bulk of which came from Correctional Institution for Women in Mandaluyong City, Davao Prison and Penal Farm, and San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm in Zamboanga City. —Dexter Cabalza
