2M Central Luzon residents set for COVID-19 jabbing in ‘Bayanihan Bakunahan’

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO—Around two million residents in Central Luzon will be administered COVID-19 vaccines during the National Vaccination Days starting Nov. 29, an official of the Department of Health (DOH) said Thursday, Nov. 25.

In a phone interview, Dr. Corazon Flores, DOH Central Luzon director, said the event would be launched in Bulacan and Olongapo City to “help ramp up” the goals of local government there.

Flores did not release provincial targets, saying local executives may still increase or decrease their target population in the event called Bayanihan Bakunahan.

According to Flores, 5.6 million out of the 8.7 million target as of Nov. 24 had been vaccinated. At least 46 percent of these are fully vaccinated, while 64 percent had their first dose.

More than 100 sites would be added to the 300 vaccination sites, she said.

Residents 12-17 years old and 18 years old and above can avail of vaccine shots.

Booster shots for healthcare workers and senior citizens are available for those who completed their doses six months ago.
