COVID-19 kills 195 more in PH, total death count now at 47,482

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) reported 195 more deaths due to COVID-19 complications, raising the country’s toll to 47,482 as of Tuesday, November 23.

Based on the latest DOH data, the total number of persons who died due to COVID-19 since last year accounts for 1.68 percent of all the 2,827,820 confirmed cases of the new coronavirus disease.

In its previous case bulletins, the DOH reported 218 deaths on November 22, 175 on November 21, 205 on November 20, 277 on November 19, and 305 on November 18.

While coronavirus fatalities being reported in the daily case updates remain high, the DOH earlier explained that the death cases reported per day include those from the previous months. The DOH noted that the high number of deaths is a result of late reporting.

Meanwhile, 18,721 individuals in the country are still sick due to COVID-19, according to the DOH’s report on Tuesday. Of these active cases, 13.8 percent were severe and 5.8 percent were under critical condition and at higher risk for death. On the other hand, 55.2 percent of current active cases have mild conditions, 4.7 percent were asymptomatic, and 20.51 percent have moderate infection.
