MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte “will execute the laws accordingly” amid the issues hounding his spiritual adviser Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, leader of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ church, acting presidential spokesperson Karlo Nograles said on Tuesday.
During the Palace press briefing, Nograles was asked if Duterte would still continue supporting Quiboloy amid sex trafficking charges and whether or not the president would allow the religious figure’s extradition to the United States (US) if requested.
“As a lawyer and as a former prosecutor, and the chief executive of the country, he will execute the laws accordingly,” he answered.
Last week, US prosecutors announced sex trafficking charges against Quiboloy, alleging that girls and young women were coerced to have sex with him.
Moreover, US authorities will seek to seize the US assets of Quiboloy which the Federal Bureau of Investigation said were “ill-gotten.”
Quiboloy, close ally of Duterte, is a self-proclaimed “Appointed Son of God” and “Owner of the Universe.”
