MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health on Monday said it has detected 454 additional COVID-19 variant cases in the country, the largest chunk of which is the more infectious Delta variant.
The latest run on November 20 was comprised of 506 samples, collected in March, April, September, October, and November, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said.
Of the sequenced samples, 426 were Delta variant cases, 18 were Beta variant cases, and 10 were Alpha variant cases.
With the additional variant cases, there are now 7,038 total number of Delta variant cases, 3,595 Beta variant cases, and 3,139 Alpha variant cases.
The Delta variant remains as the most common lineage.
To date, the Department of Health has sequenced 20,561 samples including 1,179 from incoming international travelers. From the total samples, 18,383 were listed with lineages.
