San Juan City records all-time low 29 active COVID-19 cases

MANILA, Philippines — The city government of San Juan now only has 29 active COVID-19 cases, the lowest number since the pandemic began in 2020, Mayor Francis Zamora announced on Monday.

In a statement, Zamora said that the current active infections are a 97-percent drop from its all-time high record of 1,123.

“As of yesterday, San Juan now has only 29 active cases. The lowest number since COVID-19 started last March 2020. This is already a 97% decline from our previous high of 1,123 last September 16,” the mayor said.

On Sunday, San Juan City logged three more recovered patients, raising recoveries to 14,913. No new death was listed, retaining the death toll at 327. The city’s confirmed COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began stand at 15,269.

Zamora encouraged his constituents to continue complying with the minimum public health standards to further drive the COVID-19 cases lower.

“Let us continue to follow all health and safety protocols in order for the numbers to further go down,” he said.

As of Sunday, the Philippines logged 2,227 new COVID-19 infections, bringing the overall case count to 2,826,410, of which, 21,101 are active cases.
