MANILA, Philippines — A passenger of the Metro Rail Transit 3 (MRT-3) was hurt after being hit by a rock thrown at a train coach traveling to Magallanes Station, Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade said on Saturday.
Tugade, in a Facebook post, expressed outrage over the incident and said that the perpetrator should be jailed.
“Sana mahuli itong t**r@Nt@d0** gumawa nito! Mayroong nambato sa isang tren ng MRT-3 habang bumibiyahe papuntang Magallanes. Nabasag ang isang bintana ng bagon, at may isang pasaherong nasaktan,” Tugade said.
(I hope the person behind this will get caught! Someone threw a rock at a train coach of the MRT-3 that was traveling to Magallanes. A window of the coach was broken and a passenger was injured.)
“‘Yung ganitong g@g*ng tao ay dapat na nakukulong!!!” he added.
(This kind of person should be jailed!!!)
The MRT-3 management, in a statement, also condemned the incident.
It said that based on an initial report, a scavenger who reportedly threw the stone was later apprehended at a construction site near a hotel along Taft Avenue.
According to MRT-3, the injured passenger was given first aid at the Magallanes Station and was later brought to the San Juan De Dios Hospital in Pasay City.
“Further investigation of the incident is ongoing,” the train management said.
“The MRT-3 Management assures the public that appropriate legal charges will be filed against those involved in the incident. Necessary steps will also be taken to prevent similar incidents from happening in the future,” it added.
