LPA dissipates but amihan, shear line to bring cloudy skies to parts of Luzon

MANILA, Philippines — The low-pressure area (LPA) east of the country has evaporated, but the northeast monsoon or amihan and the shear line may cause cloudy skies in parts of Luzon, particularly over the northern and southeastern portions.

Weather updates from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) on Friday afternoon showed that cloudy skies and isolated rains may be experienced over the Bicol Region and Northern Luzon due to the two weather systems.

But for the rest of the country including Metro Manila, generally fair weather is expected from Friday up to the weekends.  Also, Pagasa does not see any tropical cyclone entering the Philippine area of responsibility in the next two to three days.

For Saturday, rains are still seen to pour over Bicol Region, while the rest of the Luzon would be warm.  Temperatures in Metro Manila may range from 24 to 32 degrees Celsius, 23 to 32 degrees in Tuguegarao, 24 to 33 degrees in Laoag, 24 to 31 degrees in Puerto Princesa, and 24 to 30 degrees in Legazpi.

Similarly, Visayas and Mindanao would also have generally fair weather, but isolated rains may still occur over the eastern side of the island groups.  Temperatures in Cebu would be around 24 to 32 degrees Celsius, Tacloban with 25 to 32 degrees, Iloilo with 26 to 32 degrees, Cagayan de Oro with 25 to 31 degrees, Davao with 25 to 33 degrees, and Zamboanga with 23 to 33 degrees.

As of now, no gale warning has been raised in any part of the country, which means fisherfolk and small boat operators may set sail.
