OLONGAPO CITY—The number of active COVID-19 cases in this city further dropped to 19 after recording one recovery and one new infection, local health data showed Thursday (Nov. 18).

It was the lowest number of active cases in the city since March 19. Starting October, the city has been consistently recording single-digit new cases and at times zero

Mayor Rolen Paulino Jr. said he was hoping that the city’s downward trend would lead to zero active cases soon.

Since the pandemic struck last year, the city has recorded 5,450 COVID-19 cases but 5,117 of these have been cleared of the viral disease. It reflected a 94-percent recovery rate.

Its death toll stood at 314 with the addition of one death on Wednesday. INQ
