Body of man found stuffed inside drum in Cagayan town

TUGUEGARAO CITY—Police identified the man who was found stuffed inside a drum that was retrieved from the section of the Cagayan River in Solana town, Cagayan province on Wednesday.

The victim, Rowel Unabia, a 32-year-old former seaman and native of Santa Teresita town in Cagayan, had been suffering from bipolar disorder since he was 19, according to his brother, Melvin, a worker at the Isabela Public Attorney’s Office.

Rowel sustained bullet wounds to his head and body, investigators said.

Police said the victim had also been tagged as one of the alleged motorcycle carnappers in Cabagan and San Pablo.

The brothers last met on Tuesday Rowel visited the public attorney’s office. Rowel allegedly made a scene and challenged people around for a fight.

An investigation was underway to determine who killed the victim, police said.
