SAN ANTONIO, Zambales—Three private schools in Central Luzon will pilot the implementation of limited in-person classes on Monday (Nov. 22), according to the Department of Education (DepEd).
The Academica de Meridien here, the Mother of Good Counsel Seminary in San Fernando City, Pampanga and the Singapore School Clark in Angeles City are among the 20 private schools in the country that have been permitted to hold the pilot run of the in-person classes.
These schools were selected by DepEd based on their capability to carry out physical classes and contingency plans in case of a COVID-19 infection..
According to DepEd, 10 other private schools submitted their application for the pilot run but were not selected due to their failure to comply with the requirements set by the agency.
Last Monday, 100 public schools that are mostly in remote areas in the country began their in-person classes.
In Zambales, 10 of these public schools were selected but only seven managed to start on Monday.
The other three schools postponed the opening of the classes after some of their teachers tested positive for COVID-19 based on rapid antigen tests.
But the DepEd already gave the three schools the go-signal to begin the in-person classes after confirmatory tests showed that the teachers were negative for the viral disease.
