CAMP GEN. ALEJO SANTOS, Bulacan — Five alleged members of the communist-led New People’s Army (NPA) were arrested in separate operations in the province on Tuesday, November 16, police said.
Col. Manuel Lukban Jr., Bulacan police director, said agents from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) and other police units arrested Irene Agcaoili, alias Ayang, a native of Isabela province but is currently residing in Sta Maria town in Bulacan.
Lukban said Agcaoili is allegedly the finance head of the rebel group with an outstanding warrant of arrest for murder, and multiple attempted murders.
According to the police, Agcaoili tried to shoot the arresting officers while her companion, identified as Natividad Santos, tried to throw a hand grenade but was subdued by the lawmen
Lukban said Lourdes Bulan, alias “Simang” or alias “Leslie,” was also arrested at her residence in Barangay San Vicente, also in Sta. Maria during a separate operation on Tuesday.
Bulan is an alleged executive committee member of the same rebel group and is wanted for murder and multiple attempted murders.
Also arrested were Bulan’s two companions identified as Arcadio Tangonan and Roy dela Cruz.
Recovered from the suspects were two .45-caliber revolvers, three magazines, live ammunition, two hand grenades, and an improvised explosive device.
