MANILA, Philippines — The People’s Reform Party (PRP), which was founded by the late Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago, has adopted Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio as its vice-presidential candidate for the 2022 national elections, PRP president Narciso Santiago Jr., confirmed Wednesday.

He said party members unanimously adopted Duterte-Carpio as their vice-presidential candidate, as the party has no official candidate for the second-highest post.

The party also has not endorsed nor supported any vice presidential bet yet for the upcoming elections.

“Among the candidates for the positions of president and vice president, Sarah exemplifies Miriam’s character, vision, honesty, courage, and commitment to public service,” Santiago said in a statement.

“We strongly believe that Sarah will never fail the Filipino people so let us give her the chance to serve us well,” he added.

Duterte-Carpio filed her certificate of candidacy for vice president under former president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s Lakas-CMD party.

Duterte-Carpio earlier revealed seeking the support of political parties for her and Marcos Jr.’s run for next year’s elections.

Marcos Jr. also confirmed his tandem with Duterte-Carpio in the 2022 national elections.
