Man found dead while hanging on bridge in Bohol town

TAGBILARAN CITY––A man was found dead Monday while hanging on a bridge with a placard in Barangay Tabajan, Guindulman town, Bohol.

Roy Lee Dela Torre, 46, had no bruises and wounds on his body, but initial findings of the municipal health officer confirmed that Dela Torre died of “asphyxia by hanging.”

Senior Master Sergeant Angelito Villondo, investigator at Guindulman Police Station, said passersby found Dela Torre’s body around 5 a.m.

Lt. Teofanes Olaso, deputy chief of Guindulman Police Station, said an investigation was ongoing to determine the circumstances of Dela Torre’s death.

The placard on Dela Torre’s body read “Manny, Jhon Paul, Jofran, Maro, kamo nay sunod” (You are next).

Olaso said Dela Torre, a former seaman, was jailed for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 years ago. He was released due to a plea bargaining agreement.

Police, however, received reports that Dela Torre resumed his illegal activity.
