Ex-mayor of Pampanga’s capital to run again by way of substitution

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga—Former Mayor Oscar Rodriguez joined the four-cornered mayoral race in this capital city by way of substitution on Monday, Nov. 15.

Rodriguez, 75, replaced Liberal Party’s Lusito Samson, according to the local Commission on Elections office.

In the running for the same post are Dolores Barangay Capt. Vilma Caluag, Vice Mayor Jimmy Lazatin, and Provincial Board Member Rosve Henson.

Rodriguez ended his three terms as mayor in 2016. He served in Congress for four terms after a stint as provincial administrator.

He chaired the Liberal Party in the province until 2016.

Rodriguez said he decided to run to “help Fernandinos and presidential candidate and Vice President Leni Robredo.” INQ
