LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte—The National COVID-19 task force placed Ilocos Norte under Alert Level 2 beginning Saturday, Nov. 13.

The alert level, the second most lenient containment classification in the country, will allow residents to move within the province, according to the government guidelines released Sunday.

The guidelines allow the opening of cinemas, food firms, personal care, gyms and non-contact exercise and sports venues, kid amusement shops, religious places, and the like.

These establishments should operate at 50-percent indoor capacity for fully vaccinated individuals and 70-percent for outdoor venues. Provincial curfew remains from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m.

On Sunday, Ilocos Norte logged 16 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total active cases to 67, according to provincial government data.

The province’s average weekly COVID-19 cases dropped to 4.3 between Nov. 5 and 12 from 5.1 in the previous week.
