Drug suspect hurt in alleged shootout with cops in Laguna

LUCENA CITY – A drug suspect was injured in an alleged shootout with police officers in Siniloan town in Laguna province on Friday night.

Siniloan police, in a report Saturday, said the drug suspect, Erwin Relativo, noticed that he was dealing with an undercover cop in a drug transaction in Barangay Halayhayin around 9 p.m. Relativo reportedly pulled out a caliber .38 revolver and fired at the policeman but missed his target.

The backup policemen returned fire and shot Erwin who was hit on his right leg. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Erwin’s cohort, Vergilio Relativo, managed to escape but was later arrested by pursuing policemen. The personal relationship of the two suspects was not specified in the report.

Police seized six plastic sachets of shabu from the suspects worth P3,000 and the loaded firearm used by Erwin.

The police are preparing the corresponding criminal charges against the suspects.
