MANILA, Philippines — Former Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Guillermo Eleazar is joining the senatorial race in 2022 under the slate of presidential aspirant Senator Panfilo Lacson and running mate Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III.

“Yes, I confirm that he will run under Partido Reporma to substitute for Paolo Capino who has announced his intention to withdraw from the senatorial race yesterday,” Lacson said in a message to reporters.

Eleazar officially retired from the PNP on Saturday as he turned 56. Lt. Gen. Dionardo Carlos replaced him as PNP chief.
