Suspected NPA rebel killed in Quezon clash

LUCENA CITY – A suspected New People’s Army (NPA) rebel was killed in an encounter with government forces in Gumaca, Quezon Friday night.
The Gumaca police said a group of suspected NPA rebels clashed with troops from the Army’s 85th Infantry Battalion in Barangay Gitnang Barrio at around 9:30 p.m.
Police Staff Sergeant Joseph Marlow Glorioso said a suspected male NPA rebel was killed during the encounter.
“We’re still conducting further investigation to establish his identity,” Glorioso said in a phone interview Saturday morning.
