MANILA, Philippines — Some 170 coronavirus-positive individuals have died, raising the nationwide death cases past the 45,000-mark, the Department of Health (DOH) reported Friday.
According to DOH, the death toll reached 45,035 which accounts for 1.60 percent of the 2,813,115 total confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country.
The infection of 1,894 more individuals also increased active cases to 29,105 as of November 12, the health agency said. Of the active cases, the DOH noted, 63 percent were mild, 5.7 percent were asymptomatic, 16.70 percent were moderate, 10.2 percent were severe, and 4.4 percent were critical and at higher risk for death.

According to the DOH Epidemiology Bureau, COVID-19 deaths are currently on a decline as cases decrease and amid the higher vaccination rate in the country. The bureau said an average of 73 patients died per day in October, lower than the average 179 recorded in September, 174 in August, and 103 in July.
