TACLOBAN CITY – Mayors of the cities of Ormoc in Leyte and Catbalogan in Samar province have scrapped the use of face shields amid the decreasing number of COVID-19 cases in their localities.
Ormoc City Mayor Richard Gomez Mayor Gomez, in his Executive Order No. 217 issued on Nov. 8, also allowed drivers and passengers of public utility vehicles not to wear the face shields.
At present, Ormoc has eight active COVID-19 cases.
Catbalogan City Mayor Dexter Uy, on the other hand, issued Executive Order Number 11-002 on Nov.8, allowing his constituents to go inside establishments without using face shields.
The city has nine active cases of COVID-19.
Both mayors, however, mandated all persons in their cities to continue wearing face masks and practice physical distancing to stop the spread of COVID-19.
Tacloban City Mayor Alfred Romualdez, for his part, said he would wait for the decision of the Inter-Agency Task Force if he will lift the use of face shields in the city.
Tacloban, the regional capital, still has 78 active COVID-19 cases.
