MANILA, Philippines — Cloudy skies and isolated rain showers and thunderstorms are expected in the eastern part of Luzon and the Samar provinces in the Visayas on Thursday due to two weather systems, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
The state weather bureau said that Cagayan, Isabela, Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate, Catanduanes, and the Samar provinces are expected to have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to shear line or tail end of a cold front, while the northeast monsoon or “amihan” will brings cloudy skies and light rains to Aurora and Cagayan Valley.
The rest of the country will experience fair weather condition, according to Pagasa.
“Sa araw na ito makakaranas ng maulap na kalangitan at kalat-kalat na pag-ulan dulot ng shear line, ayan po ay sa Cagayan, Isabela, Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate at Catanduanes. Dahil naman sa northeast monsoon ay magiging maulap ang bahagi ng Cagayan Valley, pati na rin ang lalawigan ng Aurora,” Pagasa weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said.
(Today, cloudy skies and scattered rains will prevail in Cagayan, Isabela, Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate and Catanduanes due to shear line, while Aurora and Cagayan valley will have cloudy skies due to the northeast monsoon.)
“Samantala ang nalalabing bahagi ng Luzon, kasama ang Metro Manila ay magiging fair weather, kung saan magiging bahagyang maulap at maulap ang kalangitan at may tiyansa ng pag-ulan,” he added.
(Meanwhile, the rest of Luzon including Metro Manila will have a fair weather with partly cloudy to cloudy skies with possible rain showers.
“Ang Samar provinces ay makakaranas na maulap na kalangitan at thunderstorms. Samantalang ang nalalabing bahagi ng Visayas kasama din ang Mindanao ay maaliwalas at magiging maganda ang panahon ngayong araw maliban sa mga biglaang pagbuhos ng ulan dulot ng thunderstorms.”

Meanwhile, Pagasa raised gale warning over the seaboards of Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Cagayan and Ilocos Norte were up to 4.5 mete – high waves are expected.
