MANILA, Philippines—The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority announced that several major roads will be closed off from motorists on Saturday as the country celebrates the 26th People Power anniversary.
These are:
- 12:01 am — 3:00 pm: 4th and 5th lane of Edsa NB from Corinthians gate to Aguinaldo Gate 4
- 5:00 am — 11:00 am: Edsa full closed from Ortigas towards Santolan NB
- 4:00 am — 11:00 am: Whiteplains WB from Temple Drive towards EDSA
The MMDA also gave the following alternative routes for motorists heading north:
- Ortigas f/o WB to Santolan
- Ortigas EB to C5
- Julia Vargas to C5
- EDSA Kalayaan to C5
- Shaw Blvd EB to C5
- JP Rizal to Makati/Mandaluyong Bridge
The following roads will also be closed starting 8 a.m. in the City of Manila for the anniversary and the unveiling of the statue of Jaime Cardinal Sin, the Manila District Traffic Enforcement Unit said in a statement on Friday:
- P. Burgos westbound and eastbound from Roxas Boulevard to Lagusnilad
- Bonifacio Drive northbound and southbound lanes from P. Burgos to 25th Street
- Ma. Orosa northbound and southbound lane from TM Kalaw to P. Burgos
- Taft Avenue/Finance
- Lagusnilad/P. Burgos
- P. Burgos/Palacio
- Anda Circle/Bonifacio Drive
The MDTEU has provided the following rerouting scheme for motorists:
- Light vehicles coming from the northern part of Manila/Pier Zone using the southbound lane of Roxas Boulevard shall turn at Anda Circle to A. Soriano to Magallanes Drive to their destination
- All vehicles coming from the southern part of Manila utilizing Roxas Boulevard northbound lane, upon reaching TM Kalaw shall turn left at South Drive, right at Independence Road, right at Katigbak, left southbound lane of Bonifacio Drive to counter flow up to 25th Street back to Bonifacio Drive northbound lane to destination
- All vehicles traveling eastbound of TM Kalaw shall go straight to Taft Avenue to destination
- All vehicles traveling westbound of TM Kalaw shall go straight to Roxas Boulevard to destination
- All vehicles coming from McArthur, Jone, and Quezon Bridges going to Roxas Boulevard shall go straight to Lagusnilad-Taft Avenue and take TM Kalaw or UN Avenue to Roxas Boulevard
- All cargo trucks traveling along Osmena Highway – right Pres. Quirino Avenue, straight ahead to Nagtahan, AH Lacson, Yuseco Street, crossing Jose Abad Santos straight to Raxabago, Capulong to destination
It added that motorists may park their vehicles in the following areas:
- Along Ma. Orosa from P. Burgos to TM Kalaw southbound lane [one side parking]
Roxas Boulevard from Katigbak to TM Kalaw southbound lane [one side parking]
