LUCENA CITY – Police Lieutenant Colonel Romulo Albacea on Tuesday handed over the leadership of the Lucena City police force to Police Lieutenant Colonel Reynaldo Reyes after his two-year stint in the provincial capital.

The turnover ceremony, held at Camp Nakar police headquarters, was presided by Police Colonel Joel Villanueva, Quezon police chief.

Albacea held the position for two years and three days. He will now take the Public Safety Officers Senior Executive Course to pave the way for career advancement.

Albacea is credited with the success of anti-criminality campaigns in the city, particularly against illegal drugs.

Under his leadership, the Lucena police station was chosen as the “best performing city police station of the Calabarzon region” this year. The region covers the provinces of Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon.

In early 2019, Albacea also served as Lucena police chief for seven months. The city police force was also chosen as the “best city police station” in the region.

Albacea also orchestrated the successful enforcement of health and safety protocols to combat the spread of COVID-19 in the city, the number of active cases is now remarkably going down.

As of November 9, the city health office reported 147 active COVID-19 cases from 571 recorded on October 14.

Reyes, the former commander of the 1st Quezon provincial mobile force, vowed to equal if not surpass the achievement of his predecessor.
