8 rescued as boat capsizes in Cagayan town
TUGUEGARAO CITY — Eight people, including a four-year-old boy, were rescued after their outrigger boat capsized in the waters off Calayan town in Cagayan province on Tuesday, the Philippine Coast Guard said.
Initial reports said the boat sank 25 meters away from the shoreline of Barangay Poblacion.
Ranilo Dumarad, the boat owner, said the craft tilted to its side as it became unbalanced due to the positioning of the passengers.
Coast guards immediately responded to the site and brought the victims to safety.
