DOH confirms 1,409 new COVID-19 cases

The Department of Health (DOH) reported on Tuesday 1,409 additional COVID-19 cases, bringing the active cases of the disease to 30,544.

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) reported on Tuesday 1,409 additional COVID-19 cases, bringing the active cases of the disease to 30,544.

According to the DOH, the active cases are 1.1 percent of all the 2,806,694 confirmed cases of the disease. Of the active cases, 60.7 percent are mild, 8 percent are asymptomatic, 17.05 percent are moderate, 10 percent are severe, and 4.2 percent are critical.

Another 2,941 patients have recovered and 46 more individuals have died. A total of 2,731,583 patients have already recovered while 44,567 have died.

“The lower deaths reported today is due to technical issues encountered with COVIDKaya,” the health department said.

The DOH said 5.4 percent of 30,716 individuals who were tested were found positive for coronavirus on Sunday.

On hospitalization, 42 percent of intensive care unit beds, 32 percent of isolation beds, 25 percent of ward beds, and 24 percent of ventilators are currently being used.

Meanwhile, nine case duplicates were removed from the total case count, while 46 cases recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.

The DOH said 14 testing laboratories were not able to submit their data on time. The non-reporting labs contributed an average of 1.6 percent of samples tested and 2 percent of positive individuals in the last 14 days.
