MANILA, Philippines — Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio on Tuesday has ordered the termination of her city information officer Jefry Tupas for being one of the guests in a party raided by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

PDEA arrested at least 17 individuals including the main target of a buy-bust operation at a beach party in Davao de Oro’s Mabini town.

Authorities also seized P1.5 million worth of drugs during the raid.

“The former City Information Officer, Jefry Tupas, of the City Government of Davao was involved in a drug raid last November 6 in the Municipality of Mabini, Province of Davao de Oro,” Duterte-Carpio said in a statement.

“Last Sunday, Jefry signified his resignation and on the same moment he was informed that he is terminated from work with the City Government of Davao,” she added.
