9 Ilocos Norte towns post zero active COVID-19 cases
LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte—At least nine of the 23 towns and cities in the province have zero active COVID-19 cases, according to the report from the provincial government on Monday, Nov. 8.
Free of COVID-19 cases are Dumalneg, Adams, Carasi, Nueva Era, Badoc, Pinili, Currimao, Sarrat, and Pasuquin, the provincial health task force said.
The capital city of Laoag remained the only area in the province that had more than 21 active COVID-19 cases, while the rest had 15 and below.
The latest data showed that active cases in the province stood at 93, the lowest in the past three months.
Ilocos Norte had logged at least 18,834 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic struck last year, of which 54 percent had been tallied in August and September when the province was trying to contain a surge fueled by the highly contagious Delta variant.
Article continues after this advertisementThe weekly average COVID-19 cases in the province also dipped from 9.1 between Oct. 22 and 29 to 5.1 from Oct. 30 to Nov. 5.
At least 18,266 individuals also recovered from the disease, while 475 died as of Monday, the same data showed.
