MANILA, Philippines —The gunman who was captured on closed circuit television (CCTV) in the act of shooting and killing a forestry official in Cagayan has surrendered to authorities Friday.
Philippine National Police spokesman Chief Superintendent Agrimero Cruz Jr. said that the suspect, Adorable Caligan Jr., was already in police custody.
Caligan has been charged for the murder of Department of Environment and Natural Resources official Melania Dirain, who was shot dead inside her office in in Sanchez Mira, Cagayan on the night of February 7.
He was identified through a CCTV footage which showed him shoot Dirain, said Cruz, quoting a report of Senior Superintendent Mao Aplasca, Cagayan police director.
