MANILA, Philippines —Many parts of the country will experience cloudy skies and rainy weather on Tuesday due to the northeast monsoon, locally known as amihan, and shear line or the tail end of a cold front, the state weather bureau reported.
“Lumakas po ang amihan o ang northeast monsoon. Sa kasalukuyan ang northeast monsoon ay nakakaapekto sa buong Luzon. Samantala, shear line, ito yung lugar kung saan nagsasalubong ang amihan o easterlies, kung saan naapektuhan ang silangang bahagi ng Luzon gayundin ang silangang bahagi ng Visayas,” Pagasa weather specialist Aldzcar Aurelio said in a public weather forecast.
(The amihan or northeast monsoon gains strength. Currently the northeast monsoon prevails in the entire Luzon. Meanwhile, shearling or the area where the amihan or easterlies meet, affects eastern Luzon and Visayas.)
Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon are expected to have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to northeast monsoon.
In Batanes and Babuyan Islands, the northeast monsoon will bring cloudy skies with rains.
Mimaropa and Western Visayas will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms also due to the northeast monsoon.
Bicol Region, Quezon, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, and Mindanao will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to shearline.
Meanwhile, Pagasa raised gale warning in Batanes, Ilocos Norte, Northern Coast of Cagayan and Babuyan Islands, which will experience up to 4.5 meters of waves, according to Aurelio.
