Magnitude 3.8 quake jolts Ilocos Norte

LAOAG CITY — The province of Ilocos Norte was hit by a 3.8-magnitude earthquake at 4:30 a.m. on Monday, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

The epicenter of the quake was located 18 kilometers northwest of Pagudpud town, Phivolcs said. It was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 33 km.

The tremor was also felt in the capital city of Laoag (Intensity III) and the nearby Claveria, Cagayan province (Intensity II).

Phivolcs said no damage and aftershocks were expected.
