MANILA, Philippines — Taguig City on Saturday recorded its lowest number of active COVID-19 cases in the last six months.
The city government said it was among the cities with the lowest active cases, case fatality rate at 0.80 and death at 42 per 100,000 population.
Taguig City Mayor Lino Cayetano noted that over 90 percent of the cases were asymptomatic and mild. He attributed the achievement to the behavioral change and ramped-up vaccination efforts.
“Because of this, I want to express our deep gratitude to our citizens, stakeholders and the national government. It has taken us a while to get here — our job now is to help stay the course, continue to learn, adapt and do better,” he said.
Taguig City has been in the front line of efforts for government testing with more than 35 centers that administer free testing across the city.
