MANILA, Philippines–The ridge of a high pressure area is causing the warm weather in Luzon, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said Friday.

A high pressure area weather system means clear, blue skies and is associated with “good weather.”  It is the opposite of low pressure area, said weather forecaster Leny Ruiz.

He added that the high pressure area may go on for the next three days.

Meanwhile, Ruiz also said that Thursday was the hottest day of the year so far in Quezon City, with 34.4 degrees Celsius recorded at 2 p.m.

He added that warmer weather should be expected during summer season, which is around 36 to 37 degrees Celsius.

In Pagasa’s 5 a.m. bulletin, it said the whole country will experience partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies except for isolated rain showers or thunderstorms mostly over Mindanao. Rain showers are caused by easterlies, or winds blowing from the east.

Light to moderate winds blowing from the East to Southeast will prevail over Luzon and coming from the east over the rest of the country. The coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be slight to moderate, it added.
